Hiring practices with regard to applicants with labour market barriers
Project duration: 01.01.2025 to 31.12.2028
Abstract
This project examines how establishments deal with applicants who face barriers to the labour market - including health restrictions and other deviations from dominant body norms, lack of formal qualifications, or migration biographies. In view of an increasing shortage of skilled labour and conflicting developments with regard to diversity and inclusion, the question arises as to whether and how establishments are adapting their recruitment practices. The aim of this project is to understand the conditions under which establishments are willing to hire people whose productivity or availability they expect to be limited. For this purpose, qualitative interviews are conducted with establishments’ decision-makers, experts and employee representatives. The objective is to explore overarching patterns in recruitment processes. Best practice case studies serve as a basis for analyses on how jobseekers with labour market barriers can be successfully integrated into recruitment and work processes.
