Abstract

For some time now, the possible applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and the technical systems associated with it have been increasing. Knowledge about the scope and structure of the demand for experts for the development, implementation, but also the application and maintenance of AI systems allows conclusions to be drawn about how AI technologies are spreading and to what extent AI skills are available companies are needed. It is to be expected that the demand for AI specialists and AI skills is also related to further changes in activities and skills in companies. Therefore, the scope and structure of the demand for skills related to AI technologies (AI skills) should be measured and compared with operational characteristics, for example in terms of employment and wages paid. Furthermore, it will be examined in more detail whether and how the demand for AI skills is related to the demand for other technical and interdisciplinary skills, economic developments and the extent of skilled worker shortages.
