Abstract

We study the effect of retirement on cognitive abilities, distinguishing between mathematical and reading competences. For this analysis we use comprehensive cognitive tests from the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS). In a separate paper, we will examine the role of the occupation held prior to retirement on cognitive decline.
