Abstract

Economic and Socioeconomic literature has been devoted to documenting and analyzing shifting patterns in society during the past decades.  Because of the increasing regional mobility, neighborhoods, especially in metropolitan areas, change rapidly.
Hence, displacement processes raise special concern. By using, amongst others, geo-coded German administrative labor market data, we analyze these processes. Special focus is put on income segregation, displacement through regional mobility and rent developments.
By examining mobility patterns of individuals, change in neighborhoods can be analyzed and gentrification through displacement can be tracked. By evaluating rent developments, the consequences of these processes can be measured.
