Occupational mobility caused by technological change
Project duration: 01.07.2020 to 31.12.2022
Abstract
The technological change and the increasing digitalization of the working world are changing the occupational landscape: Some occupations are becoming less important, in some the demands on skills and expertise of employees are changing, and yet others are emerging. To continue to participate successfully in the labor market, employees often have to be occupationally mobile. This project investigates how occupational mobility is distributed between occupations that are more or less affected by the substitutability of certain tasks by computers and robots, and what role individual characteristics of the employees and structural characteristics of the origin and target occupation play in this.
