Refugee Well-Being and Health in the Context of Integration - A Sociological Analysis of Post-Migration Stressors

Project duration: 01.04.2021 to 31.12.2026

Abstract

This cumulative dissertation investigates how institutional conditions and post-migration stressors shape refugees’ health and subjective well-being in Germany. Drawing on quantitative survey data, four empirical studies examine the role of residency obligations, COVID-19 lockdown measures, inequalities in vaccination access, and fixed-term employment. Combining sociological integration theories with the stress process model, the project aims to understand how integration-related policies, access to resources, and employment conditions influence refugees’ well-being and health beyond conventional indicators of integration.
