The European Labour Market Barometer fell slightly by 0.1 points compared to the previous month. At 98.9 points, the leading indicator of the European Network of Public Employment Services and the IAB now stands at its lowest level outside of the pandemic. The component forecasting unemployment is clearly in the pessimistic range, falling by 0.2 points to 97.7 points in December. The employment component, in turn, increases by 0.2 points and is in slightly positive territory at 100.2 points. 'The European Public Employment Services do not see a collapse in the labour market, but unemployment will continue to rise', explains Enzo Weber, IAB head of forecast.
