European Labour Market Barometer fights its way upwards

The European Labour Market Barometer climbed to 99.8 points in February, an increase of 0.5 points compared to the previous month.

The European Labour Market Barometer climbed to 99.8 points in February, an increase of 0.5 points compared to the previous month. It is thus only just below the neutral mark of 100 points. Both components of the labour market leading indicator of the European Network of Public Employment Services and the IAB rose in February. The unemployment forecast component increased by 0.5 points and now stands at 98.3 points. However, the outlook for unemployment remains negative. After a rise of 0.4 points, the employment forecast component stands at 101.3 points and suggests that employment will continue to rise. "The European Public Employment Services see a stable situation on their job markets," says Enzo Weber, IAB head of forecast.
