The European Labour Market Barometer recorded a slight decline of 0.1 points in September compared to the previous month. The leading indicator of the European Network of Public Employment Services and the IAB is therefore in slightly pessimistic territory at 99.5 points. The unemployment component fell by 0.2 points in September compared to the previous month and stands at 98.5 points. The unfavourable trend in unemployment thus continues. Employment, on the other hand, is holding steady, but only slight increases are expected. The employment component increased slightly by 0.1 points to 100.6 points in September. “The European Public Employment Services continue to expect a subdued labour market development,” reports Enzo Weber, IAB head of forecast.
