Throughout the year, the European Labour Market Barometer was on a stabilizing course, but there was a slight setback at the end of the year: The leading indicator of the European Network of Public Employment Services and the IAB fell by 0.2 points compared to the previous month and stands at the neutral mark of 100 points in December. The unemployment forecast component remained at 99.8 points, just below 100. The employment component, which had reached a high for the year, fell again by 0.4 points to 100.2. ‘Despite this setback at the end of the year, the labour market outlook for spring 2026 remains stable’, explains Enzo Weber, IAB head of forecast.
