Who we are
The Institute for Employment Research (Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung, IAB) in Germany conducts research into the labour market and the professional world to advance debates in science, public, politics, and administration. The IAB researches the entire range of the labour market from the point of view of different disciplines and in the social context. The IAB is financed by public funds and scientifically independent.
Support for Ukraine
The IAB condemns the war of aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which is a brutal violation of international law and which causes unimaginable human suffering. This is also an attack on our fundamental values of freedom, democracy and self-determination. Scientific freedom and academic cooperation possibilities are unimaginable to us without these values.
What we offer
We would like to show our solidarity with Ukraine and offer a research visit for up to one year to researchers in the field of economics, sociology, statistics, or other social sciences from a research institution in Ukraine with a strong interest in labour market research. We provide a monthly payment, depending on the research experience of the applicant. Costs for travel will be covered.
Whom we address
We accept applications from researchers who work at research institutions in Ukraine (irrespective of nationality). Further, applicants need to have obtained a doctoral degree or be close to having finished their doctoral degree.
Required documents
- Certificate of language proficiency (English and/or German)
- Certificate of doctoral degree or proof of equivalent achievements
- Residence permit
