European Labour Market Barometer Treads Water

The early indicator of the European Network of Public Employment Services and the IAB thus remains slightly above the neutral value of 100 points.

In June, the European Labour Market Barometer stood at 100.1 points for the third consecutive month. The figures from this leading indicator, produced by the European Network of Public Employment Services and the IAB, suggest no major changes in the European labour market over the coming months. The component forecasting unemployment remains at 99.9 points, as it was last month. The employment component fell marginally by 0.1 points to 100.2 points. “The good news is that unemployment will not rise. The bad news is that neither will employment,” said Enzo Weber, IAB head of forecast.
