The European Labour Market Barometer recorded a minimal decline of 0.1 points compared to the previous month to 99.6 points in June. The leading indicator of the European Network of Public Employment Services and the IAB thus continues the stagnation phase of the past three years. The unemployment forecast component stagnates in negative territory at 99.0 points. The employment component remains slightly positive despite a small decline of 0.1 points to 100.3 points. ‘The expectations of the European labour market services remain stable, but there is a prevailing feeling of gloom,’ explains Enzo Weber, IAB head of forecast. Latvia is participating for the first time in June – without Latvia the barometer would have been 0.1 points lower this month.
