As in the previous month, the European Labour Market Barometer registered 99.5 points in October. The leading indicator of the European Network of Public Employment Services and the IAB thus remains in slightly pessimistic territory. The unemployment component fell minimally by 0.1 points to 98.3 points in October - this indicates worsening unemployment in Europe over the coming months. The employment component of the barometer remains in modestly positive territory at 100.6 points. ‘The European Public Employment Services continue to see no momentum in their job markets,’ explains Enzo Weber, IAB head of forecast.
