16th interdisciplinary Ph.D. Workshop – Perspectives On (Un-)Employment

International Conference GradAB (IAB) - FAU

The IAB’s Graduate School (GradAB) and the FAU invites young researchers to its 16th interdisciplinary Ph.D. workshop “Perspectives on (Un-)Employment”. The workshop provides an opportunity for graduate students to present their ongoing work in the field of theoretical and empirical labor market research and receive feedback from leading scholars in the discipline. The workshop will focus on but not be limited to empirical research in the following fields:

  • Labor supply, labor demand, and unemployment
  • Evaluation of labor market institutions and policies
  • Education, qualification, and job tasks
  • Wage determination and life-cycle earnings
  • Gender, family, and labor market discrimination
  • Inequality, poverty, and intergenerational mobility
  • Migration and international labor markets
  • Regional labor markets and spatial disparities
  • Impact of technological change, digitalization, and climate change on the labor market

We welcome papers that apply quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods.

Submission

Call for Papers:
We invite current PhD students to submit their extended abstract (3-5 pages) or full paper in pdf format to IAB.PHD-WORKSHOP@iab.de. We strongly encourage the submission of research in its early stages. The submission should also include

  • CV and contact information
  • Up to five keywords (or JEL classification) at the beginning of your submission to categorize your research
  • An indication of whether you would prefer to present a paper or poster

The deadline for submission is 30 September 2024.
We will notify you about whether your paper has been accepted before 31 October 2024.

Conference fee and traveling Costs

Travel Grants
For presenters without funding, please indicate along with your submission whether you would like to apply for a travel grant. We will provide more information about the application with the notification of acceptance.
