NS Infratest Sozialforschung, Munich, (since 23rd September 2016: Kantar Public Germany) has carried out the survey of individual establishments for the Institute for Employment Research of the Federal Employment Agency since 1993. In 1996, the IAB Establishment Panel also began in eastern Germany. To make regional evaluations possible, the New Federal States agreed to increase the planned sample to allow evaluations to be carried out for each federal state. In 2000, the western German states also adopted this procedure. These increased samples are financed by the economic, social and labour ministries of the Federal States. Agreements have been signed by the ministries with the appropriate research institutes for the compilation of regional reports (see below).
