The green transformation and the workplace

Alongside the digital transformation, mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity and natural resources are the greatest global challenges facing society today. The Institute for Employment Research (IAB) therefore also focuses on the green transformation towards a low-carbon, environmentally friendly economy and the associated impact on the labour market. Of particular interest in this context is how the ‘double transformation’, i.e. when digitalisation and decarbonisation have to be managed at the same time, affects the labour market.
What effect will the green transformation have on different sectors and vocations? Are green jobs the future? What requirements in terms of qualifications and skills profiles need to be considered in the transformation process? How will this affect the trainee/apprenticeship market?
