Added values of a combined qualitative image and text analysis for investigating the significance of social-spatial structures for resilient practices of consumption

Abstract

"On the basis of an analysis of the narrative and visual material, the article illustrates that the symbiotic relationship between photography and transcript, in the sense of a hermeneutic spiral, expands both the image and the text understanding. In the data evaluation process, the image material also facilitates and generates a sensual-physical component that promotes a different interpretation. In our essay, the method mix of image and text analysis is applied to the analysis of socio-economic and socio-spatial practices of consumption for coping with precarious living situations."
