On altering the education act in Schleswig-Holstein
Abstract
"The current IAB Statement on altering the education act in Schleswig-Holstein deals with the education act of the federal-state government (printed document 19/166) of 7 September 2017 and covers the points raised by the opposition parties SPD (Social Democratic Party) and the Südschleswigscher Wählerverband (South Schleswig Voter Federation) critical of the draft. The draft bill of the CDU (Christian Democratic Union), Bündnis 90/Die Grünen (Alliance 90/The Greens) and the FDP (Free Democratic Party) allows for a return to the comprehensive nine-year academic track at academic high schools. Exceptions to this - that is, the retention of an eight-year academic track (G8) - are only to be possible at schools with an already existent eight-year or an eight- and nine-year academic track. The prerequisite for this is the approval of the School Conference with a three-quarters' majority of the representatives entitled to vote.<br> The Statement explains the significance and advantages of a fact-based discussion, describes the results of the G8 based on an overview of the results of relevant academic studies as well as examining criticism and recommendations concerning the draft bill of the federal-state government."
