Labour market integration of refugees: support is necessary and promising
Abstract
"The immigration of persons seeking protection reached a historical peak in the years 2015 and 2016 with roughly 1.2 million people applying for asylum in Germany. The corresponding actors in politics and civil society are now facing the enormous task of opening up a sustainable path for these people into society, the educational system and the labour market. For the targeted and effective promotion of labour market participation and for the successful integration of refugees, we need not only reliable information about their characteristics which have proven relevant to the labour market as well as information on the potential drivers of integration success, both among these characteristics and beyond. Through analysing both of these sources of information in combination, initial recommendations for action can be derived." (Text excerpt, © Springer-Verlag)
