Long-term Effects of Vocational Training for Unemployment Benefit Recipients in Germany
Abstract
"Is vocational training for unemployment benefit recipients effective in a long-term perspective? The beginning of a vocational training is an investment phase because the search intensity for new jobs decreases and employment prospects and wages are lower in comparison. However, after a few months the positive effects of a training on employment prospects, wages and further benefit receipt arises and persists for up to 8 and a half years after the training started. Longer trainings that last more than one year stipulate even larger effects on labour market outcomes than shorter vocational trainings." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
