Geschlechterungleichheit in Organisationen
Abstract
"In past research, organizations were identified as important bases of social stratification. In this contribution the focus is on how sex and gender inequalities in organizations (re)produce organizationally. The authors discuss existing theoretical approaches and empirical findings and report results from their analysis of labor market data and of two large German research organizations. Findings reveal how the different allocation of men and women to high-status positions comes about, and how it is mediated and prolonged through an embeddedness of individuals and structures in organizational contexts. This interplay of complex structural and microsocial forces is subject to considerable variation between and within organizations and over time." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
