From working time to operating time
Abstract
"In section 1 two main dimensions of operating time, its duration and its flexibility, are contrasted with one another. Based on data of the IAB Establishment Panel Survey (EPS) the variety of decoupling working times and operating/opening hours is shown. With regard to duration of operating time the methodical argument is stressed that the empirical results depend on the particular analytical construction of operating time (section 2). Bearing this in mind the advantages of common concepts of measurement and weighting data will be discussed and some empirical results will be shown dealing with shift work as 'the main form of decoupling' (section 3). Finally a short outlook on further research concerning the EPS in 1999 is given (section 4)." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
