Sociology of conventions and implementation research : the start-up subsidy of the employment offices as an example of application
Abstract
"This chapter discusses the sociology of conventions from the perspective of their ability to provide a methodological framework for implementation research in the field of organisational sociology. A methodical procedure is suggested that covers the analysis of institutional regulations, discourse documents, expert interviews and observations of interaction. With the help of the theoretical perspective chosen, the situative completion and interpretation requirement of institutional rules is given expression in an unequivocal way. The focus is on uncertainty and the way the actors at the implementing administrations deal with this. In the current example of application, namely start-up support anchored institutionally in unemployment insurance, the actors must answer the question on which formats the (co-)construction of the start-up quality of the applicant should be based."
