Innovation in Germany and Saxony : everyone is quick to take the credit
Abstract
"Our empirical analyses show that establishments in Saxony are on average more innovative than establishments in the eastern part of Germany in general. Recently the innovator quota even rose above that of the Federal Republic as a whole. The results show that the credit for this cannot exclusively be given to a high innovation activity in the most innovate sectors however but to the above-average innovation success of the economy as a while. Moreover we find evidence that the value-added chain is especially important as a source of ideas for innovation and that cooperation with universities and colleges of higher education should be further extended."
