Development of vacant jobs: the interaction of the economic situation and structures

Abstract

"The period of rapid economic recovery after the economic and financial crisis has passed. Since the second quarter of 2011, the German economy has been growing at an average rate at best and from time to time it has even been showing a recessive tendency. Nevertheless the number of open jobs is still fluctuating around a relatively high level. This paper discusses to what extent this level has been driven by economic and structural effects and why it is not unusually high, despite economic weakness." (Text excerpt, IAB-Doku)
