Short-Time Work: A Currently Successful Instrument for Alleviating the Impact of the Economic Crisis
Abstract
In this article, it is demonstrated that the impact of the economic crisis on the labour market has thus far been successfully alleviated by the economically motivated use of short-time work. Furthermore, the article discusses the prevalent thesis that the prolonged use of short-time work impedes structural change. Lastly, the author considers the improved possibilities of funding continued education during short-time work periods. (IAB)
