Field analysis as a research programme : vol. 1: The programmatic core

Abstract

"The concept of the social field plays a central role in research in various disciplines of social science. The papers collected in Volume 1 show that field analytical studies of differing provenance result from a common research programme. The book is divided into three sections. The first section covers papers that outline the theoretical and methodological fundamentals of the field analytical research programme. The articles in the second part present different instruments for the formation of theories about the subject; here the spectrum ranges from participatory observation to geometric data analysis. The third part is devoted to the analysis of the scientific field. Overall, the methodological, empirical and reflexive articles in this collection provide a comprehensive overview of the research dispositions and routines of the field analysis research programme."
