The need for networks on data access
Abstract
"There is a very active series of projects going on in Europe with respect to the access across borders to confidential micro data for scientific research and the confidentiality issues related to that. For example Eurostat is supporting several ESSNet projects with National Statistical Institutes in this field. There is also a need to involve the other actors as the Data Archives and the researchers who are the final users. In this paper we will give an overview of the 7th framework project 'Data without Boundaries (DwB)' and the series of 'Workshops on Data Access (WDA)'. Both initiatives will help to establish an international data access. Their main goals are to exchange knowledge, define standards and find solutions for best practice."
