Regionale Inflexibilitäten als Ursache des Beschäftigungsproblems

Abstract

"Due to the huge regional disparities that characterise the German labor market, a consistent demand exists for the work force to show more regional flexibility. The immediate requirement for regional mobility can be measured by the volume of regional mismatch occurrence. The results of this study suggest however, that this phenomenon seems to be of little importance in the context of the large-scale unemployment problem the German labor market is facing. The small number of affected occupations primarily constitute the secondary labor market typified by low occupational skill demands and unattractive conditions of employment. Thus, besides regional also motivational and personal factors of mismatch seem to play a decisive role." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
