Krankt der deutsche Arbeitsmarkt unter zu geringer regionaler Mobilität?
Abstract
"Huge regional disparities characterize the German labour market. This is often interpreted as an indication that there is a constant demand for the work force to show more regional flexibility. The immediate requirement for regional mobility can be measured by the volume of regional mismatch occurrence. The results of this study suggest, however, that this phenomenon seems to be of little importance in the context of the large-scale unemployment problem that the German labor market currently faces. In order to reduce persistent regional disparities, a selective and regional business development plan promises to be more effective than the promotion of regional mobility. Indeed, the latter may even exacerbate the problem." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
