Drawing means tested unemployment benefit (ALG II) during transisiton to gainful employment : circumstances of life, participation in employment and training of young adults at the poverty level

Abstract

"Since the introduction of means-tested unemployment benefit (ALG II) in 2005, the importance of the reform for the extent of benefit receipts and the labour market chances of benefit recipients has been the subject of discussion. Brigitte Schels investigates scientifically and socio-politically relevant questions concerning the development of the social inequality of young adults with respect to the temporal structure of drawing means-tested unemployment benefit and also the ways in which persons exit benefit receipt. In the foreground is the correlation between the receipt of means-tested unemployment benefit of young adults and their participation in training and gainful employment. The analyses allow the structures of receipt of Basic Income Support to be quantified for 18- to 29-year olds in a reliable way." (Text excerpt, IAB-Doku) ((en))
