Healthcare professions and the Covid-19-Pandemic: No increase in quits from the profession

Abstract

"The Covid-19-Pandemic placed a particularly heavy burden on the healthcare sector. This led to fears that many employees might quit their job, thereby increasing the already existing shortage of workers in the sector. This report shows that instead, the number of qualified nurses and nursing aides in Germany increased considerably – before and after the start of the pandemic. Furthermore, the employment stability of these workers remained nearly unchanged during the pandemic." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
