Abstract

"The Institute for Employment Research (IAB) has submitted its statement on the written hearing of the enquete commission I ”Equal opportunities and vocational education and training” of the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. It addresses challenges and practical solutions in the following fields: improving career orientation and preparation in schools, transition from school to vocational training and the transition sector, reducing dropouts, tapping the potential of vocational training for the integration of immigrants and refugees, the importance of role models, educational policy levers for more equal opportunities, educational research at the IAB and reducing the underrepresentation of women in skilled craft trades."
