Facets of terms used to describe occupations : variety of occupational titles makes orientation more difficult
Abstract
"The terminology used in the field of occupations remains blurred and needs to be treated with care. The variety of occupational titles is confusing for those choosing an occupation and such titles are often replaced by titles of the training qualification. Although the classification of occupations is the prevailing feature of the labour market, excessive differentiation makes it more difficult to obtain a clear view. The result of this is the demand for a generally comprehensible and clear structuring of the occupational landscape. The article sheds light on the different views relating to terms used to describe occupations and calls for everyday, meaningful terms." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
