Technical report on the IAB Establishment
Abstract
"Changes Compared to 2017
Some questions are asked not annually but every two or more years. Within the framework of this modular system a number of questions were removed from the questionnaire in wave 26 and others were included. Outside the modular system a number of new questions have been included.
Against the background of the GDPR, which came into effect on May 25, 2018, the establishment was asked at the end of the interview if it is willing to be re-interviewed in 2019. A total of 10% of establishments did not approve to participate in the 2019 follow-up survey. These establishments, which will be missing in 2019, must be compensated by an increased refreshment sample. This is based on the assumption that the response rate of the establishments of the continuer sample is not sufficient to compensate the 10% which do not approve to participate again.
In 2018, a computer-assisted questionnaire was introduced parallel to the traditional paper questionnaire as part of a mode experiment. The aim was to estimate whether different survey modes have an effect on participation rate and data quality and to derive recommendations for the gradual development of the IAB establishment panel. For this purpose, part of the sample of the first respondents was questioned with the paper questionnaire, the other part with a computer-assisted questionnaire." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
