The North and South of Youth Unemployment

Abstract
The project aims at enhancing the academic exchange and to deliver high-level expertise (three papers) on the local specificities of the problem of youth unemployment from the perspective of two extreme cases. On one side, Greece a country most severely affected by the crisis and on the other side Germany a country, which was almost no impacted by the crisis. The originality of our study is two-fold; firstly, we focus on both economic and sociological dimensions of the crisis and youth unemployment link and secondly, we take into consideration the regional development trends and culture related factors in each of our two comparative case-studies.
To fulfill our research agenda, a primary requirement is the adequate and reliable data. The planned four meetings are targeted at enhancing the process of understanding of data and country specificity interpretation of the econometric analysis of the problems of interest.
