Abstract

This project will create a systematic data set on news linked to the Russia-Ukraine war. News categories are for instance the military situation, economic performance, and the international domain. Based on this data set, it will be possible to estimate causal effects on world economic variables such as energy, commodity or stock markets. As an intermediate step, the transition of news can be analysed. This would lead to a better understanding of the role of the war in the world economy. In addition, conditional forecasts could be made on the basis of the relationships determined. The data set could be made available to the scientific community.
