Abstract

The spatial distibution of refugees across small areas in Germany may depend on the local economic strength as well as the house or rent prices of the area. In this Project, we analyze the effect of refugees on the local economy and especially the role that rent prices on the housing markets have on their selection of the place of residence. In doing so, we use the GridAB dataset and contains information on refugees and incumbent (potential) workforce, as well as spatial Information on rents and economic strength from data of the RWI.
