Project duration: 01.03.2019 to 31.12.2023
Abstract
In recent decades labour markets have undergone profound changes. Technological progress has triggered a change in the structure of economic activities leading to an increased demand of higher qualified employees. Nevertheless, it can be stated that in recent years employment subject to social insurance at the requirement level of helper has increased. The structure and development of this employment group is the focus of this cooperation between the Regional Research Network (RFN) and the research area D1 "Establishments and Employment." We focus our analysis on the regional levels of West and East Germany, federal states, district regions and the structural district types of the BBSR. Furthermore, we investigate how the development of employees at helper level differs by nationality and economic sector. In doing so, we take a special look at the sectors affected by the Corona crisis.
