Abstract

IAB has been carrying out a survey project on the subjective well-being of job seekers jointly with the Free University of Berlin since 2017 (IAB project 3111). An important part of the project is a monthly app survey of people who had originally registered as job seekers. In addition, the Project performs hair analyzes to determine the level of the stress hormone cortisol as a biomarker. In the original sample, participants were accessed during a boom phase (November 2017 to May 2019). As a result, short periods of unemployment and relatively small well-being effects were observed. In order to investigate the effects of the Covid19 pandemic and its economic and social consequences on the well-being and on the job market results of jobseekers, IAB project 3874 prologues the survey for previous cohorts of respondents, and IAB project 3877 increases the group of participants by additional cohorts of job seekers during the Covid19 crisis. The current project builds on these projects and analyzes the collected data.
