The Finances and Planning Department processes all budgetary and financial questions in the field of academic controlling  and financial planning. This includes support and advice to IAB's individual departments in all finance and technical planning matters.

Its overriding  core task is to provide advice to the Institute's Directorate and the Research Management Department on all questions of budget and finance.

The specialist area  Planning and Controlling provides strategic consultation and information relevant to decision-making by way of controlling payments  and resources as well as by providing external stakeholders and the public with information.
The core tasks of the specialist area  Finances are responsibility for the budgetary and financial planning of IAB along with budget management, the coordination of the IT budget, administration of  third-party funds,  as well as basic issues in connection with visiting in-house researchers.
