Migration and the Labour Market

In recent years, public debate has been dominated by questions surrounding international migration, future demand for workers and the integration of new migrants, refugees and future generations of migrants. These questions are posing significant challenges today and will continue to do so going forward.

What is the relationship between the need for workers and the need for immigration? How can access to the job market for refugees be improved? How can young migrants be successfully integrated into training programmes, trades and professions? What is the situation regarding recognition of foreign qualifications and the situation for highly qualified migrants in Germany in particular? How do labour market policies affect refugees and people from immigrant communities? The IAB conducts research that deals extensively with various aspects and issues connected with migration and integration.

We have compiled a list of IAB publications and projects on this page that are related to the subject of migration and the labour market.
