Data Protection for the Job Vacancy Survey

The Economix Research & Consulting institute conducts the IAB Job Survey nationwide on behalf of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), the research institution of the Federal Employment Agency (BA). The legal foundation of this is Section 282 Para. 5 SGB III. This is a main survey conducted in writing or online and short (telephone) follow-up surveys. TM Quadrat GmbH is the service provider for the short follow-up surveys in the first three quarters of the following year. All participating institutes bear responsibility under data protection law and work according to the comprehensive legal data protection provisions.

Origin of the addresses

The following information is transmitted to the survey institute Economix: name and address of the enterprise, enterprise number, number of employees subject to social security contributions as of 31 December of the previous year, economic sector code and available contact information of a contact person. The legal foundation of this is Article 28 GDPR.

What happens to your data?

After you have returned the completed questionnaire, Economix will separate it from your address. The address will remain with Economix until the survey is completed and will then be deleted. Of course, this also applies if you answer the questionnaire online. The information from all enterprises is combined into one large dataset. If the individual enterprise has agreed, the data available on the enterprise at the Federal Employment Agency will also be used for this purpose. The merging is done exclusively via a code number, hence without name and address. The dataset is pseudonymised in the earliest possible processing steps (after the end of the survey or after linking).

This dataset is then analysed at the IAB for scientific purposes. The following applies in principle: None of the scientists can identify which company provided which information; address details are not available to them. The presentation of all results is completely anonymous. This means: No one can tell from the results what answers individual enterprises or administrations have provided. This also applies to the short follow-up surveys. The identification of individual enterprises or administrations is not possible here either.

Voluntary participation

Of course, your participation is voluntary, and you have the right to revoke it at any time. You will not suffer any disadvantages in the event of non-participation or revocation. The revocation shall not affect the previous processing.

Your rights and our guarantees

You can assert the following rights with regard to your survey data at any time:

  • Right of access
  • Right to rectification
  • Right to restriction of processing
  • Right to erasure

You also have the right to contact the competent supervisory authority for complaints.

The research institutes involved in this project guarantee the following:

  • Your data will only be evaluated in anonymised form;
  • The address of your enterprise will not be passed on to third parties under any circumstances;
  • The scientists involved in the collection and evaluation are bound by data secrecy.
