Wage subsidies: Established, but too many variants
Abstract
"In Germany, wage subsidies to employers are one of the most important instruments of active labor market policies. A new qualitative study of the Institut Arbeit und Qualifikation (IAQ) and the IAB analyzes how local job centers and firms handle wage subsidies, and how workers are involved in the process. A main result of the study is that labor market actors assess the current variety of different wage subsides as complicated; thus the study recommends a consolidation of the different variants."
