Woran orientieren sich Einschätzungen zur Zumutbarkeit einer Beschäftigung?

Abstract

"This article explores the question of which factors influence judgments on what is considered a ‘suitable employment’. We investigate this using a factorial survey. We present the respondents several descriptions of hypothetical jobless individuals who reject job offers they receive. Respondents should assess to what extent this refusal is justified. Empirically, it can be seen that respondents are more lenient with unemployed if the new job generates a lower income and requires a lower qualification than previous employment. Furthermore, older people are treated more leniently than younger ones; in contrast to that, individuals who have already been unemployed in the past are punished harder. The number of jobs available on the market has no effect on the respondents’ judgment, as well as jobs in temporary employment and a fixedterm contract." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
