Paths from school to paid employment : results of an IAB survey of young persons undergoing rehabilitation by the Federal Employment Agency

Abstract

"In the centre of this empirical analysis are paths taken by participants engaging in their first integration into the labour market after school. The aim of the study is to contribute to a better understanding of the (dis)continuity in the transition process and the significance of benefits for participation in the world of work when negotiating the status passage into adult life. This transition process is examined by means of a sequential pattern analysis in which, along with the labour market status, participation in measures (or series of measures) within the framework of support is taken into account. The basis of the data is an IAB survey of persons undergoing rehabilitation who had completed a general or rehab-specific measure of the Federal Employment Agency (BA) in 2006. For the analysis, data from the first survey waves (2007 und 2008, n=985) were used." (Text excerpt, IAB-Doku)
