A concept for Digital Social Security as part of platform work
Abstract
"Social security for platform work displays serious gaps. The 'Digital Social Security' (Digitale Soziale Sicherung, DSS) presents a concept on how social insurance can be organised even on a short-term and (partially) internationally integrated market. A digital mechanism is implemented into the platforms that automatically transfers a certain percentage of the agreed payment as a social insurance contribution upon termination of a job. Because the DSS mechanism is applied at the platform level, an effective digital pay-as-you-earn process becomes possible for platform work. The national social insurance thus retains its authority and flexibility. Optimally, as many countries as possible should participate, though." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
