On the management of labour migration and the labour market integration of refugees

Abstract

"The IAB has been asked for their expertise on questions of migration and integration for the preparation of the 2018/19 annual report of the German Council of Economic Experts (Sachverständigenrat zur Begutachtung der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Entwicklung). In the autumn of 2018, the IAB commented, on the one hand, on the role of a skilled labour immigration act in order to counteract skilled labour shortages and on the future development of the scope and structure of the supply of foreign labour. On the other hand, the IAB addressed the obstacles and progress in the labour mar-ket integration of refugees and also responded to the labour participation of persons with exceptional leave to remain.
