Digitalisation in Germany: the potential to substitute occupations and the possible consequences for employment

Abstract

"It is clear that progressive digitalisation will have wide-ranging effects on the future world of work. Computers or computer-controlled machines are increasingly in a position to take over activities that could previously only be done by human beings. New technologies have given rise to the fear that people could be increasingly forced out of the labour market in the future. To what extent are professions at risk because activities that at present are still done by human beings can soon be taken over by computer-controlled machines? Which employees will be most strongly affected by this?" (Author's abstract, © Springer)
